Towards Sustainability of multi-generational learning at work (GENTRY)

Bidragets beskrivning

Current working life is increasingly multi-generational. So far, research on generational learning at work is largely missing. Applying the social-ecological theory of generations as a frame of reference, and being informed by Mannheim's social generation theory and practice-based learning theory, the GENTRY studies learning generations and multi-generational learning practices at work. The project aims to frame how learning in and across generations can strengthen employees' and organizations' well-being constituting the humane sustainability of generational learning. An ethnographic design is used in the domains of health care and ICT in Finland, Denmark, and Sweden. Various qualitative (observations and interviews) and quantitative (survey) data collection and analytical tools (narrative, thematic analysis; statistical modeling) are utilized. A novel theoretical understanding of multi-generational learning at work will be produced to promote humane sustainability in working life.
