Abstrakt
This study is tasked to assess the status of the EuroGEO climate action group, identifyits connections to policy related contentin the Knowledge Centrefor EO and devise a way to a reinvigorated theclimate action group in EuroGEO.Climate actions in relation to Earth Observation arevast as there are many European networks organizing climate research and almost all of them nowadays are looking for impact in real word use. This is the sphere of actions where EuroGEO climate actions were aimed at. As Copernicus is the EUs main contribution to GEO, the Copernicus Climate Change (C3S) was acknowledged as the major input of data and information, that was not to be replicated or duplicated, but the aim was in demonstrating downstream of Copernicus services, how climate services can make an impact, preferably based on Copernicus data.Climate services in Europe need many new demonstrations for all sectors, as there is much more customization needed across the board. Whenever a new service is born another challengeis also to upscale successful services from local or national levelsto European wide delivery. Services need to develop deeper into the value chain and broaden theirclientele. The C3S national collaboration forum should be embraced as the main governance of the climate action group. Linking this forum with the many other research and upstream operations in Europe should be feasible.Enabling climate services to be free to the end users yetpaid based on usage is the effective way to expand and still limit spending overall. It is feasible to enable this then coupling a joint web usage monitoring system to areward frameworkbased on the targeted users to goto web services with relevant content. An EU funded action is logical, as the policy framework is a Union legislation, and it would greatly simplify and improve the monitoring of the policy.
