Statutory monitoring and fish tagging programme of Lake Inari and its tributaries

Targets for 2014 - the newly-hatched larvae of all species included in the statutory monitoring programme will be tagged using ARS - tagging will be extended to the stocking study of Arctic charr and brown trout hatched in warm/ambient water at the end of the hatching period - experimental electrofishing will be continued in the Ivalojoki, the Siuttajoki and the Juutua - fisheries, catch and stocking data for 2013 will be compiled for Lake Inari - collection of fish samples and laboratory work will be continued as planned - the proportion of stocked and wild fish of the catch will be reported for all species included in the statutory monitoring programme as accurately as possible on the basis of the data available on tagged fish - results on the effect of the time of stocking on brown trout stockings in estuaries will be reported - international cooperation with Norwegian partners will be continued (vendace, Coregonus albula) - the programme for identifying the genetic origin of brown trout feeding in Lake Inari will be continued
