Just Pronatalism: The Ethics and Politics of State-Promoted Reproduction
Bidragets beskrivning
Many countries are concerned about falling birth rates and are creating policies to encourage people to have more children. However, these policies can place unfair pressure on would-be-parents, reinforce gender inequality, or limit personal freedom. Just Pronatalism studies when and how governments can support childbearing in ways that are fair and socially just. The research will be carried out at the University of Turku using methods from analytic philosophy, such as careful argument analysis and comparison of ethical principles. The goal is to develop guidance for decision-makers so that family policies help people who want children without pressuring those who do not. The project also considers how new reproductive technologies may affect parenting and equality in the future.
