Pertussis resurgence and its variation between countries: causes and interventions

Bidragets beskrivning

This project aims to identify the causes of and solutions to the resurgence of pertussis — a highly contagious disease that is severe in children and causes significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. To this end, this project will combine pertussis surveillance data from at least 10 countries with state-of-the-art modelling and statistical approaches. These models will then be used to forecast whether public health interventions — maternal immunisation and optimised vaccine schedules — can halt pertussis resurgence. The goal is to advance our limited understanding of the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases to enhance public health preparedness and interventions.
