Fluids to Ores (FLORES) – Cogenesis of the LCT pegmatites and orogenic gold deposits
Bidragets beskrivning
The FLORES project focuses on the genetic link between Lithium-Caesium-Tantalum (LCT) pegmatites and orogenic gold deposits. Moreover, it aims to build a geodynamic model for a crustal-scale fluid pulse that occured around 1.8 billion years ago when both deposit types were formed within Svecofennian Orogen. The project utilises novel in-situ U-Pb and Lu-Hf dating on several different minerals such as monazite, titanite, zircon, xenotime and garnet. The obtained ages are used to construct an age framework of geological processes responsible for ore precipitation, which is integrated with fluid inclusion analyses to study the composition and source of the ore-bearing fluids. In addition, new ways in monazite chemical dating are developed during the project. The project is performed in the University of Turku, and it renews the genetic model of the deposit types as well as provides new information about the critical mineral deposits, their formation and link to crustal evolution.
