Interdependence between climate change, biodiversity and respiratory health from pregnancy to adulthood

Bidragets beskrivning

The human imprint on the global environment has become highly pronounced. This escalating human pressure on the environment drives both climate change and loss of biodiversity. The impacts of climate change are more intense and lasting longer, thus posing serious threats to human health, not only through immediate loss of life, but also through an increase in air pollution, pollens and change in land use that may have long-term effects. The aim of this project is to evaluate the short- and long-term effects of climate change-related exposures and loss of biodiversity on respiratory health using data from two Finnish population-based prospective cohorts. This innovative and multidisciplinary project will bring multifaceted outputs that will ultimately contribute to reduce the burden of respiratory diseases and support effective and sustainable interventions/practices to create and promote healthier, inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable urban environments.
