From Individuals to Populations: Adaptation in White-tailed Eagles

Bidragets beskrivning

This project studies how young white-tailed eagles choose where to live. We want to find out if these choices are influenced by their genes ("nature") or their early experiences ("nurture"). Using GPS trackers and special accelerometer tags, we will follow their movements in Finland and across northern Europe. We will combine existing data with a cross-fostering experiment to learn how they adapt to their surroundings and how habitat choices affect populations. This research will help protect eagles by improving habitat restoration and reintroduction efforts. We work with WWF Finland, the Swiss Ornithological Institute, and other partners to ensure strong data and methods. This project will help us understand and protect wildlife in a changing world.
