Räätälöidyn diabetesriskinhallintasovelluksen kehitys toistuvien riskitekijä- ja interventiodatan avulla

Bidragets beskrivning

Type 2 Diabetes presents a significant health and economic burden in Finland, with 400,000 diagnosed cases and direct treatment costs reaching 1.6 billion euros in 2017. Early detection of high-risk individuals is critical, yet current screening guidelines do not account for risk changes over time or effectively communicate how interventions influence long-term diabetes risk. Furthermore, no online tool visualizes an individual’s risk progression and the personalized impact of preventive strategies on diabetes-free life expectancy. By using parametric longitudinal survival analyses and Whitehall II data (N=10,308) with repeated 5-yearly diabetes and risk factor measurements over 30 year follow-up this study aims to: (1) analyze how changes in diabetes risk scores predict future diabetes onset and complications, (2) identify the most effective interventions across different demographic and socioeconomic groups, and (3) develop an interactive, data-driven application for clinicians and patients to visualize the impact of interventions on diabetes-free life expectancy. By modeling the long-term effects of different intervention strategies, this study will provide evidence-based guidance for optimizing and personalizing diabetes prevention. The resulting online tool will help clinicians communicate diabetes risk more effectively and enable patients to make informed decisions, track progress, and set intervention goals.
