Miniaturized integrated circuit-based multimodal spectrometer for continuous personal health monitoring

Bidragets beskrivning

Smart swatches are commonly used device to improve health nowadays. No wearable devices capable for measuring molecular changes of human biology e.g. stress level and inflammation biomarkers exist. Raman spectroscopy is one good option to measure different molecules but the technology used is not available for wearable measurements. The developed miniaturized Raman devices are lacking of the possibility to suppress the stronger fluorescence compared to Raman signal present in biological measurements. The aim of this project is to develop a miniaturized multimodal device which is based on integrated circuits and pulsed laser diodes in which case fluorescence tail lasting longer that Raman signal can be suppressed based on a time-resolving measurement principle. Additionally, the fluorescence lifetime and intensity can be measured simultaneously to achieve more accurate data analysis. This novel technology may offer a new type wearable device for the continuous monitoring of health.
