AI-based optimization tool for sustainable urban planning

The end product of an AI research project is often a set of mathematical models and software with no user interface and output that still needs a lot of processing to be understood by substance experts. The methods are also often developed and verified with minimal data. These features leave a huge gap to the actual use of the results. The aim of AIOSut is to strengthen and accelerate the effective utilisation of our previous research results by developing them further into new models for cities' decision-making and a concrete tool for sustainable urban planning. To accomplish that, in this proof-of-concept project we combine the research results of two Academy of Finland projects "CouSCOUS: Sustainable Urban Development Emerging from the Merger of Cutting-edge Climate, Social and Computer Sciences" and "ADAFUME: Advanced data fusion methods for environmental modeling". The development and testing of the tool will be done together with the relevant stakeholders.
