Supramolecular Engineering of Layered Double Perovskites for Sustainable Energy Conversion in Photovoltaics (SupraPV)
Bidragets beskrivning
Sustainable energy technologies present one of the most pressing societal issues, and solar-to-electric energy conversion in photovoltaics provides promising solutions. To this end, a new class of materials called perovskites recently emerged with remarkable performances. However, they are unstable and contain toxic lead, which hampers their application. To address this, there has been an effort toward stable lead-free perovskites. One of the recently emerging approaches involved the use of layered materials incorporating organic layers within the perovskite which was shown to enhance their stability, yet at the expense of the performance. This project will rely on the unprecedented supramolecular strategy to advance these materials by tailoring interactions between the components in layered lead-free perovskites that can achieve operational stabilities without compromising performance. This will enable a new generation of lead-free perovskites for more sustainable energy technologies.
