Bidragets beskrivning

The essential role of digital technologies in modern society together with the profound changes introduced are reflected in the second “Digital Agenda for Europe: 2020-2030” which is focused on radically improving digital infrastructure and providing ubiquitous public services by 2030 through gigabit connectivity in a low cost manner. This project considers low cost reconfigurable intelligent surfaces based energy harvesting sustainable wireless communication system (RISESWCS) for substantially improving the physical layer and medium access layer performance of the future wireless communication systems. Moreover, this project will provide a practical feasibility study for employing low cost RISs as a radio access network technology for a large scale wireless powered communication network with wideband transmissions. The project will systematically begin with the analysis, optimization of the RISESWCS at the physical layer and provide the performance analysis and optimization techniques for improving the data rate, coverage and energy efficiency at the physical layer. In this step, the practical aspect of the project will be ensured by carrying out the analysis and optimization by incorporating the realistic scenario into the system model which include imperfection in the channel state information, centralized overhead information unavailability and dependence of the reflecting angles in RIS elements on impinging frequencies. Then, the research will be extended to incorporate the medium access layer (MAC) for providing a holistic view for the large RISESWCS. In particular, MAC layer techniques, in terms of resource block allocations, scheduling and routing mechanisms, will be developed while considering the requirements of 6G wireless networks in terms of different fundamental performance metrics of MAC layer such as collision probability, packet loss and delay. Finally, the project will summarize the feasibility conditions for deploying RISESWCS in a real scenario.
