Non-equilibrium many-body phenomena in arrays of superconducting quantum devices

Bidragets beskrivning

Superconducting quantum device technology sprints towards larger and less noisy quantum hardware. The current challenge is: What useful applications can we solve with the hardware before it is clean enough for running textbook quantum algorithms? Recently, the interest of fundamental material science has turned towards highly excited states and non-equilibrium phenomena. The current challenge is: Which platforms can be used for experimental probing these phenomena? This project aims at answering both of these challenges by focusing on fundamental understanding of non-equilibrium quantum many-body physics with realistic models of transmon and fluxonium arrays. The theoretical and numerical methods are a synthesis of those of open quantum systems, quantum engineering, and modern many-body physics. The results will advance quantum memory and computation applications currently impeded by non-equilibrium effects of disorder, dissipation and measurement backaction.
