Smart land use policy for sustainable urbanization (Smartland), 2nd period
Bidragets beskrivning
Smartland-project identifies and develops land use policy practices that are effective in alleviating the following urban problems: 1) housing availability and affordability, 2) socioeconomic segregation of neighborhoods, and 3) carbon emission and energy use in cities. We have – together with key stakeholders - developed methods to evaluate the status quo in largest cities regarding the above-mentioned problems, as well as identified the land use policy instrument and practices that municipalities use to alleviate these problems. Key outputs include several publications, datasets, and tools, that enable monitoring the development of cities and land use policy. We are examining the efficiency of the land use policy practices in alleviating the problems, as well as analyzing their potential externalities using a multidisciplinary case-study approach. Finally, we develop land use policy tools to help practitioners to set and manage their land use policy goals.
