Spatial-temporal modeling of spread of infectious diseases in school and care facilities (BIMID)

Bidragets beskrivning

The overall goal of this study is to better understand risks associated with spread of infectious diseases in indoor spaces. In selected case studies (schools, care facilities), the possible spread of viruses will be analyzed both in the spatial (within buildings) and temporal (6-12 months) dimensions. Spatial models will be constructed using three-dimensional building information modelling (3D BIM). Air flows will be modeled using finite element method (FEM). Occupancy patterns will be approximated using information collected from the facilities and/or by mobile contact tracing application. We hypothesize that such spatial-temporal model can estimate risk of infectious diseases spreading in buildings, also allowing for estimation of the dominant mechanism(s), whether person to person, surface or airborne transmission and/or a combination of these.
