Emotional, cognitive, behavioral and social consequences of climate change for youth development
Bidragets beskrivning
Climate change is the greatest challenge of the twenty-first century. Developmental science can play a major role in increasing understanding of how climate change will impact youth and how they can be supported to contribute to mitigation of climate change and to adapt to its unavoidable effects. Aim is to create new understanding of origins and developmental impacts of climate change to adolescents emotional, cognitive, behavioral, career and social development. We use multiple mixed innovative methods, longitudinal, social networks, experience sampling (ESM), intervention, natural experiment and cross-national approaches. We create new theory-based innovative intervention program aiming to reduce young people's climate change stress and empower them. The major objective is to promote the next generation of researchers, and facilitate a better understanding and discourse with different stakeholders about how to equip young people for mastering the challenges with climate change.
