The Kipo Corpus (2010 The Language Policy Programme for the National Sign Languages in Finland), Downloadable Version 2
Beskrivning
This corpus version is available for download in Kielipankki - the Language Bank of Finland, see Access location. The downloadable version is based on the content that was previously available as the Kipo corpus version 2 in LAT (cf. the metadata of the removed corpus version at http://urn.fi/urn:nbn:fi:lb-2014073031).
The language policy programme was originally written in Finnish and then translated into Finnish Sign Language by two native speakers. Some annotations of the corpus were produced using the opposite process, i.e., the signed content was translated into Finnish.
The videos feature five different signers who take turns in signing parts of the translation of the text. The material has been annotated using ELAN. In the annotation files, the left and right hand signers are glossed on their respective annotation lines, and the sign language snippets are roughly aligned with the Finnish textual translation of the referenced content and the corresponding parts of the original Finnish text. There are also some other notes on a separate comment line.
The language policy program of the sign languages of Finland was written in Finnish first and then translated into the Finnish sign language by two persons who speak it as their mother tongue. However some parts of the program have been produced differently. For example the preface was first produced in sign language and then translated into Finnish.
