Dataset on Inspection of gas bubbles in the frozen xylem of a diffuse-porous tree with micro-CT

This data set contains the data used in the paper"Inspection of gas bubbles in frozen Betula pendula xylem with micro-CT: Conduit size, water status and bark permeability affect bubble characteristics" by Lintunen, Salmon, Hölttä and Suhonen (https://doi.org/10.1111/ppl.13749). Bubbles of gas trapped in xylem during freezing are a major cause of damage for trees growing in high altitude or latitude, because the bubbles cause blockages for water transport during thawing. This data set contains high-resolution x-ray micro-tomography images of gas bubbles in frozen xylem elements (fibers and vessels) in branches of Betula pendula. The pixel size in the images is 0.36 µm.
