International iPreschooler Surveillance Study Among Asians and otheRs (IISSAAR) Finland
Beskrivning
The dataset is Finland's part of the International iPreschooler Surveillance Study Among Asians and otheRs (IISSAAR) dataset. The data was collected from parents of 2-6-year-old children, and it comprises variables of digital media habits by a parent and their child, child’s non-digital behaviors, and background information of a parent and their child. The cross-sectional data were collected in 56 municipalities in 2019, 2020, and 2021 (n = 13 104).
Young people in developed countries have high levels of digital media use. Research lags behind the vastness of digital media use among preschool-aged children. The purpose of the research is to examine the digital media use by preschool children and its association with digital and non-digital behaviour, physical play, and sleep outside of pre-school on weekdays and weekend-days across Finland, as a part of selected countries in Asia.
The findings are compared to the WHO 24-hour guidelines on physical activity, sedentary behaviour (including screen media use), and sleep among preschool children. The results are compared within and across Finland and Asian countries. The data could inform the processing of guidelines on screen media use, physical activity and sleep among the preschool children, and base further research in the area.
