Cartographic Depth-to-Water (DTW) index map, 2m, 2023
Beskrivning
Cartographic depth-to-water index (Murphy et al. 2007, 2008, 2009) is calculated based on digital elevation model and stream networks. Stream networks are created based on various thresholds to simulate different hydrological situations. Smaller threshold means that the amount of water e.g. precipitating to that threshold area is sufficient to generate a stream, water visible in surface. The DTW index is solely based on digital elevation model and soil or weather information is not considered, which introduce uncertainty to using certain DTW threshold map (Ågren et al. 2015, Lidberg et al. 2020).
Generally DTW map with 0.5 ha threshold represents very moist conditions, e.g. after snow melt or elongated or heavy rainfall events. DTW with 1 ha threshold represent also more moist than average conditions. DTW with 2 ha threshold represent average conditions. DTW with 4 ha threshold is generally thought to represent conditions in end-of-summer (Ågren et al. 2014). DTW with 10ha threshold is representing somewhat dryer the normal conditions.
