Finnish pre-industrial currency converter, 1534-1880
Beskrivning
The question of the monetary value of products and services touches on historical research in may ways. For those studying the pre-industrial era, the values measured in money is complicated by the fact that several currencies were typically in use at once. In addition, some of the currencies were physical, circulating money, while some were used only as conceptual currencies to determine monetary value. New currencies were also introduced relatively frequently, and the value of the currency could be changed quickly by policy decisions. The exchange rate converter for the Finnish pre-industrial currencies (1534—1880) includes the mutual exchange rates of the main domestic currencies that were in use in the Finnish region. Its purpose is to facilitate both academic research of history and, for example, genealogy.
