The basic map shows roads, houses, waterways, cultivated areas, topographic features and elevation as well as conservation and protected areas. The basic map covers the whole of Finland. The roads and names are updated continuously, administrative borders annually and the other elements every 5-10 years. The basic map for 2010 is available also [without the contours](https://urn.fi/urn:nbn:fi:csc-kata00001000000000000271). This is originally digital version of topographic map and includes only open data. Similar [printed basic maps 2005-2020](http://urn.fi/urn:nbn:fi:att:d3728fc7-bf69-453a-bc9e-a12b06a74dc1) are available as different dataset.
