Air quality simulations using the PALM model system 6.0 and the sectional aerosol module SALSA2.0 in central Cambridge, UK
Beskrivning
This dataset includes the input and output data and model performance information for an evaluation study of the PALM model system 6.0 together with the sectional aerosol module SALSA2.0. Simulations are conducted in central Cambridge, United Kingdom, on 20-21 March 2017.
The simulation periods:
- morning (08:30-09:30)
- evening (21:00-22:00)
- night (03:00-04:00)
The simulations and [run_identifier]s:
- precursor:
- all_proc: all aerosol processes, namely coagulation, condensation and dissolutional growth, and dry deposition are taken into account in the simulations.
For the morning simulation, also the following simulations are conducted:
- coag: only coagulation of aerosol particles is considered.
- cond: only condensation of vapours and dissolutional growth are considered.
- depo: only dry deposition on solid surfaces and vegetation is considered.
- nbins_8: similar to all_proc, but 8 size bins instead of ten 10 are applied in the sectional representation of the size distribution.
- nbins_12: similar to all_proc, but 12 size bins instead of 10 are applied in the sectional representation of the size distribution.
- no_proc: all aerosol processes are turned off and the aerosol concentrations are modified only by dispersion and local emissions.
The content per simulation:
- INPUT
* [run_identifier]_p3dr: parameter file for model steering
- MONITORING
* [run_identifier]_cpu: information on the CPU time consumed
* [run_identifier]_header: information about the selected model parameters
* [run_identifier]_rc: time step control output
- OUTPUT
* [run_identifier]_masked_M01.nc: number concentration of aerosol particles in each size bin by the measurement site on Pembroke Street.
* [run_identifier]_masked_M02.nc: mass concentration of sulphates (SO4), organic (OC) and balck carbon (BC), nitrates (NO) and ammonia (NH) in the particle phase, the total mass concentration of particles smaller than 2.5 micrometres in diameter and the concentration of alveolar lung-deposited surface area (LDSA) of aerosol particles by the measurement site on Pembroke Street.
* [run_identifier]_pr.nc: temporally-averaged vertical profile data on meteorological variables over the whole modelling domain.
* [run_identifier]_ts.nc: average flow statistics over the whole modelling domain.
* [run_identifier]_xy.nc: time series of total aerosol number concentration (Ntot) on a xy-cross section 1.5 m and 3.5 m above ground.
* [run_identifier]_xy_av.nc: temporally-averaged wind data on xy-cross sections
* [run_identifier]_xz_av.nc: temporally-averaged wind data on xz-cross sections
* [run_identifier]_yz_av.nc: temporally-averaged wind data on yz-cross sections
The suffix ".001" indicates that the output file supplements to the original file.
