Adeco: mental concentration study by psycho-physical measurements

Beskrivning

The ability to concentrate well is an important determinant of students’ learning outcomes but remains poorly understood. In this work we investigated whether there exists a mapping between students’ biosignals and their concentration levels in their daily lives. In order to investigate this, a state-of-the-art wearable wristband was used to record students’ heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, skin conductivity (EDA) and the frequency of postural changes. Data is presented as time series per test person (anonymised in the data-set, psycho-physical measurements of 16 test persons). Other parameters included were acceleration (x,y,z coordinates), activity, location (by label e.g. home, school) and concentration. Test period lasted two weeks during 2014-2015. Empatica (by MIT) wrist band was used in the test.
