Religion, Recognition, and Resilience This project explores how religion, recognition, and communal care helped people and communities cope with crisis in the wartime and post-war Arctic region. It examines how faith, spirituality, and moral responsibility supported endurance during the Second World War and how these experiences have been remembered and passed down through generations. Using archival materials and literature from Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Sápmi, the project shows how spiritual and moral strength can grow from recognition, compassion, and shared memory. By combining history, theology, and cultural research, it deepens understanding of how past experiences of crisis can build more resilient and inclusive communities in the North today.
