GrowMeLiver: Novel growth factor signaling at the crossroads of metabolic programming in the liver regeneration
Bidragets beskrivning
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) affects up to 5% of the adult population worldwide and significantly increases the risk of liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. The liver is a master of regeneration, but in MASH this process is impaired, and its molecular and cellular mechanisms are not fully understood. The aim of this research is to uncover entirely new regulatory mechanisms of cellular metabolism that are critical for liver regeneration and to identify novel therapeutic targets that can be utilized in the future treatment of MASH. By leveraging human MMASH samples, cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics at single-cell resolution, human 3D liver models, and mouse models, this study will provide significant added value to liver research and the development of new therapies to promote liver health.
