Cancer immunotherapy utilizing multifunctional vector technology, PET imaging and metabolic MRI

Bidragets beskrivning

Cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide, with 90% of cancer-related deaths resulting from metastases. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive form of breast cancer, characterized by high metastatic potential and limited treatment options, as conventional therapies are ineffective. However, TNBC exhibits high immunogenicity, making it a promising target for immunotherapy. Despite this, only a small proportion of TNBC patients benefit from immunotherapy due to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. The project combines photothermal therapy and radiotherapy to induce immunogenic cell death, enhancing the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Additionally, novel PET/MRI imaging methods will be developed to assess therapy response before anatomical changes occur and to analyze cell death pathways. The ultimate goal is to optimize these therapeutic approaches to achieve effective outcomes in the treatment of TNBC and its metastases.
