Adaptive Design for AI-Driven Processes in Transforming Dynamic Landscapes (ADAPT)
Bidragets beskrivning
The Adaptive Design for AI-Driven Processes in Transforming Dynamic Landscapes (ADAPT) project addresses the impacts of climate change by developing innovative methods for design in dynamic conditions. Rather than imposing static solutions on unstable terrains, the project explores how architecture, urbanism, and landscape design can become adaptive systems responding to processes like glacial retreat, rising seas, and sediment flows. ADAPT combines fieldwork with novel digital workflows, including 4D point cloud modeling, machine learning, and immersive simulations. These methods simulate ecological transformations, turning variable site conditions into drivers of design. In collaboration with ETH Zurich, NMBU, and the MIT Media Lab, the project promotes a more-than-human approach that embraces ecological, technological, and cultural interconnections. These efforts support scalable approaches to climate adaptation, offering new ways of coexisting with changing natural systems.
