IsoMuseomics: a novel framework for linking historical adaptation and climate resilience

Bidragets beskrivning

This project introduces IsoMuseomics, a novel interdisciplinary framework combining genomic data from historical museum specimens with stable isotope analysis and environmental information, to explore the history of at-risk species. By tracking changes in genetic diversity over the past 200 years, we aim to understand what helped species to survive in the past and the environmental challenges driving their decline today. Using advanced DNA technology and stable isotope analysis, we will uncover how species have adapted to climate change and habitat loss, while identifying the mechanisms that supported their ability to cope with environmental pressures. These insights will allow us to predict future risks, such as extinction or migration shifts, and provide valuable knowledge for biodiversity conservation and management. Ultimately, the project will deliver new tools to guide conservation efforts and support the long-term survival of threatened species in a rapidly changing climate.
