Multi-instrument study of high-latitude Ionospheric irregularities induced by Atmosphere-ionosphere- Magnetosphere coupling with comprehensive Implementation of AI technologies (MIAMI)

Bidragets beskrivning

The ionosphere is a natural plasma composed of ions and electrons. This region of the atmosphere plays a crucial role in long-distance communication, ground-based tracking of satellites and spacecraft, and global navigation. The most significant distortions of satellite signals occur in the high-latitude ionosphere, where conditions are highly dynamic and filled with irregularities. This project investigates the physics and sources of ionospheric irregularities in high-latitude regions. Artificial intelligence technologies are extensively employed to address challenges such as computer vision, data filtering, and parameter forecasting. The project aims to develop probabilistic and short-term predictive models of ionospheric parameters and to lay the foundation for near-real-time, globally scalable systems capable of monitoring the irregular ionosphere—an essential step toward ensuring the reliability and economic efficiency of modern navigation and communication services.
