Fission Track Modeling in Geological Materials
Bidragets beskrivning
Fission tracks are microscopic regions of structural transformation in rocks, formed by the spontaneous splitting of uranium atoms. High temperatures and pressures affect the evolution of these tracks. Their size changes more rapidly when the rock is exposed to high temperatures, making them useful for studying the thermal history of rocks. This project utilizes advanced computer simulation methods to investigate how these tracks evolve, from their initial formation in less than a billionth of a second to their long-term changes over millions of years. The resulting information can be used to better understand Earth's geological history and to support the use of tracks in nanotechnology.
