Sustainable Production of Cyclic Carbonates from CO2 and Renewable Biosources: Process Development from Laboratory Scale Toward Industrial Feasibility
Bidragets beskrivning
Cyclic carbonates provide a sustainable way to produce green materials like polycarbonates and polyurethanes using forest biomass and CO2, offering an eco-friendly alternative to fossil-based methods. This project focuses on scaling up these technologies from the lab to industrial readiness. It begins with optimizing production conditions for efficiency and refining the process to work with various bio-based raw materials. Advanced models will simulate larger-scale operations, aiding in the design of efficient reactors and processes. Finally, production will be tested on a larger scale, with challenges identified and resolved. Throughout the project, safety, environmental impact, and economic viability will be carefully assessed to ensure alignment with sustainability and market demands. By creating a new pathway for producing green polymers, this research supports the transition to more sustainable industries and a cleaner future.
