Formation of marine low-level cloud seeds and the global impact - MARCLOUD
Bidragets beskrivning
Climate change is one of today's biggest challenges. While reducing carbon dioxide emissions is crucial, tiny particles called aerosols also play an important role by helping cool the Earth through cloud formation, especially over oceans. However, we don't fully understand how these particles work. The MARCLOUD project aims to solve this mystery by studying how clouds form over oceans. Using a special chamber at CERN and advanced measuring techniques, researchers will study how natural chemicals from forests and oceans work together to create cloud-forming particles. This research is important because current climate predictions vary widely – from 1.8°C to 5.6°C of warming. Better understanding how these particles form clouds will help us make more accurate climate predictions and develop more effective climate strategies.
