Addressing the Challenges of Achieving Energy Resilience in Buildings During Power Outages in Finland: A Human-Centric Approach Integrating Technical, Social and Economic Dimensions (REBUILD-Fin)
Bidragets beskrivning
Due to climate change and rising ambient temperatures, the frequency of natural events such as extreme temperatures and storms has increased. In addition, the threat of political conflicts, economic crises, wars, and accidents has grown. These challenges can lead to energy crises and power outages, which in turn affect building energy systems and their occupants. In response, this project aims to define and develop key techno-social indicators for energy-resilient apartment buildings in Finland. The goal is to ensure the building can maintain minimum performance during power outages, supporting occupants' health and survivability. This will be achieved through both passive and active methods, while also facilitating a transition toward socio-economic sustainable solutions. The outcome of the project will provide valuable guidance for users, policymakers, and businesses, helping them improve building designs and regulations to better prepare for future crises.
