Medin as a cause of Aß amyloidosis in the cerebrovasculature: Towards a treatment and biofluid marker of amyloid angiopathy in Alzheimer's Disease
Bidragets beskrivning
The projects aims to investigate how MGF-E8/medin contributes to vascular damage in animal models of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and to characterize the changes in medin expression in both animal models of the disease, as well as in human patient samples. We develop novel assays to measure medin in patient samples with the aim to develop medin as a diagnostic biomarker for vascular amyloid pathology in patients with AD. This could be used to stratify patients for future immunotherapeutic treatments and thus willl pave the way for personalised medicine approaches in AD patients with CAA.
