Global Centers: Alliance for Socially-acceptable & Actionable Plants
Bidragets beskrivning
This research project will develop genetically engineered plant species for biofuel generation. The goal is to demonstrate that it is possible to create energy-dense, water-efficient plant species for industrial-scale use. The project's experts will also explore the societal acceptability and ethical concerns surrounding genetically engineered crops and biofuels. We will use recent advances in various fields, particularly biology and biotechnology, as well as social sciences and social ethics, to demonstrate how new ideas in plant synthetic biology can contribute to the development of a sustainable, profitable, and flexible bioeconomy while taking social acceptability into account. We will examine cultural and legal factors that influence public acceptance, including energy and genetic modification policies, attitudes towards new technologies, and distinct ethical and legal traditions. The project will provide guidance and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders.
