The Economic and Health Costs of Victimization

Bidragets beskrivning

The project studies the economic and health consequences of victimization. Although survey research points out that victimization is common, we still know little about its effects. The project sheds light on the cost of victimization using rich administrative data that allows us to follow victims' labor market and health outcomes before and after victimization. Using this data, we investigate how different crimes, such as sexual, domestic violence, workplace violence, and cybercrime, impact victims' labor market status and health. Further, we will study how victims interact with the criminal justice system and whether the type of punishment assigned to a perpetrator affects the victim's well-being.
