Towards comprehensive protein-protein interactome responsible for the coordination of potyvirus infection processes
Bidragets beskrivning
Plant potyviruses are a group of viruses that cause major crop losses. Infection is carried out by 11 viral proteins. They also require host plant proteins for their infection processes. Viral and host proteins form protein complexes that allow viral RNA to be replicated, protected, and used for viral protein production. These interactions also shape the cell to support viral action. We comprehensively define the interactions between viral and host proteins that direct viral RNA into replication complexes and viral particles. Some host proteins are susceptibility factors, without which viral infection is inhibited. We will follow the actions of three susceptibility factors in cells to understand how their interactions in different parts of the cell coordinate viral multiplication. We will build technologies for plant virus research that will allow the protein interaction data to reveal the location of the interaction in the cell. The results will contribute to resistance breeding.
