Identifying binders for the detection and targeting of mechanically activated human proteins
Bidragets beskrivning
In the human body, disturbed regulation of protein functions leads to the onset and progression of various diseases, including cancer and Alzheimer's disease. Besides biochemical regulation of proteins, it is now clear that hundreds of human proteins are regulated by mechanical forces. However, currently there are no methods for the specific detection and targeting of mechanically activated proteins in research and therapy. In this study, we will develop novel methods for the detection of mechanically activated proteins in cells and tissues. Our initial targets are mechanically activated cell receptors with important functions in human development and physiology. We will develop binders specific to these receptors and investigate their use in different applications. The results of this study will greatly increase our understanding of the mechanical regulation of protein functions and facilitate the development of new drugs and therapies to treat human diseases.
