It's about TIME: Improving lung cancer treatment selection through better understanding of the tumor immune microenvironment
Bidragets beskrivning
Lung cancer represents a major public health issue and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. This research project addresses crucial challenges in non-small cell lung cancer treatment, particularly focusing on the prevalent group of patients with EGFR and KRAS mutations. The primary goal of this study is to deepen our understanding of the interplay between tumor cells, tumor microenvironment and the immune system, and how this influences therapy outcomes and treatment resistance. Emphasis is placed on investigating the malignant tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) and to develop better fully human tumor-on-a-chip models to study the TIME mechanisms & novel treatments targeting it. By integrating mechanistic studies with cutting-edge profiling techniques, our research seeks to uncover novel rational therapeutic targets and strategies, potentially leading to breakthroughs in personalized lung cancer treatment and treatment stratification.
