Hybrid Magnonics for Energy Efficient and Neuromorphic Computing
Bidragets beskrivning
Magnonics, the research field studying collective excitations in tailored magnets, offers a promising alternative for semiconductor-based information and communication technology (ICT). Transmission and processing of information in magnonics relies on the transfer of spin angular momentum in the form of spin waves rather than electric charges and, consequently, it does not suffer from major energy losses via heat dissipation. In this project, we will study essential building blocks for spin-wave computing and integrate them into two computing prototypes. The scientific renewal that will be achieved will stimulate more research on energy-efficient spin-wave computing and guide magnonics towards a more applied direction.
