Defect engineering in refractory multi-principal-element random alloys
Bidragets beskrivning
Multi-principal-element random alloys (MPEAs), or high entropy alloys (HEAs) have been reported as a completely new class of metallic alloys. Many developed HEAs have shown outstanding superiorities and great mechanical properties. These breakthroughs and “unusual” properties make the HEAs potential to operate in various extreme conditions (nuclear power plants, aerospace, marine, biomedical, etc.). DERMPEA will join the forces of advanced materials synthesis and processing, unique and comprehensive experimental characterization and atomistic simulations to elucidate the mechanism of fundamental defect engineering in MPEAs. The key aim is to develop a detailed description and analysis of defects and elemental motion in MPEAs. The ultimate goal is to fill the knowledge gap in bringing the HEA concept closer to industrial implementations and even come up with new theories for further development of high-performance metallic materials.
