Preventing Alzheimer's disease conversion by monitored vibration treatment.

Bidragets beskrivning

Alzheimer's disease (AD) has recently been linked to a failure of glymphatic brain solute transport due to neurovascular defects. Our pioneering research has directed our focus towards mechanisms that could prevent AD by augmenting the pulsatile perivascular cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) solute removal from the brain. We have shown that clearance from the brain can be increased using a novel electroacoustic (EAC) vibration treatment, while focused ultrasound (FUS) can restore memory in demented mice. Our major aim is to understand how physical oscillations improve glymphatic solute transport. We intend to use wearable monitors for both detecting reduced CSF solute transport and feed-back monitoring it's treatment. Our leading expertise in brain clearance research added to our unique mice model and patient cohorts, gives us a competitive advantage to develop both early diagnostics and monitored of step-by-step treatment to enhance CSF brain clearance for preventing AD conversion.
