Modeling of noise in physically-realistic path tracing
Bidragets beskrivning
Path tracing is a powerful method for simulating how electromagnetic radiation, such as visible light, radio waves, and x-rays, propagate and interact with the physical world. It produces noisy data, and the distribution of this noise is highly complicated. This project aims to develop a comprehensive noise model for physically realistic path tracing, which will provide a means to substantially improve the efficiency of path tracing in multiple ways, and enable the real-time production of physically realistic and photorealistic content for a wide variety of scientific and consumer applications where it was not possible before. Efficient path tracing can be utilized for example in the film and gaming industries, virtual and augmented reality applications, tomography and other medical imaging, architecture, industrial design, 5G radio and other telecommunications, and automotive radar applications.
