Future Methods for Identifying Interacting Genes using Dynamic Gene Network Inference

Bidragets beskrivning

This project aims at developing new statistical methods for estimating more realistic network structures using biological measurements. Typical setting in biology is that large number of genes are measured from small number of individuals which makes gene network estimation as a difficult task. We consider time course data where own network is estimated for each time-point and information from adjacent time-points is utilized during estimation. One target is to try to better incorporate information from continuous phenotypes to be part of the gene network construction process so that only phenotypically relevant information can be found in the resulting network. If successful, this will give us hint about how certain genes are functionally connected to the phenotype. The new statistical methods that are developed during the project will have lot of applications in medical and biological research.
