Supercritical flow and heat transfer in energy conversion processes
Bidragets beskrivning
Demand of energy and resources is increasing globally as the standard of living is getting higher. The unsustainable use of resources is leading to sever consequences and actions at the international as well as national level is needed. The demand for more energy efficient processes and sustainable usage of resources is clear. Supercritical CO2 power cycle (sCO2) is closed Brayton cycle (gas turbine) using carbon dioxide as a working fluid. Carbon dioxide is in its supercritical state, which means that the pressure and temperature are over the critical pressure and temperature. Good thermal match between the heat source and sCO2 can be achieved and the heat sink of the cycle can operate close to the critical point (e.g. using terrestrial ambient temperature) leading high thermal efficiency of the power cycle. The project will generate knowledge about energy conversion and turbomachinery operating with supercritical fluids and models capable of modelling it.
