Molecular, vesicular, and cellular mechanisms of heart transplantation – integrated multi-omics atlas to improve organ allocation and outcome

Bidragets beskrivning

The aim of our study is to elucidate cellular and molecular events associated with myocardial injury, rejection, and the development of coronary artery disease, and to develop prognostic factors and individualized treatment in heart transplant patients. The study examines cellular and molecular events in heart transplant donors, during heart transplantation, and in long-term follow-up. To achieve our goals, we will use systems biology methods, biological databases, bioinformatics methods and artificial intelligence. Our data are based on clinical data from prospective studies and blood and tissue samples of organ donors, heart transplants, and heart transplant recipients during the first year of transplantation. Our research creates new prognostic factors and forms of diagnostic and treatment, improves patients' long-term prognosis and quality of life, and reduces treatment costs. Our goal is also to find new targets for drug development.
