MicroDuet: Interpersonal Synchrony in Dual Microsurgical Performance in the Operating Room
Bidragets beskrivning
MicroDuet investigates interpersonal synchrony in dual microsurgery through the lenses of joint attention and physiological synchrony that dynamically emerge in high-risk and space-restricted tasks. Using state-of-the-art sensors, modern multimodal data collections, and advanced theories in CSCW, MicroDuet isolates critical collaborative processes and the best practices of the high-performing teams in authentic operating rooms (OR). These practices are essential in building the expertise-driven models of smooth collaborations and designing intelligent sensing and interventions. While the project is situated in the context of dual microsurgery, the project's motivation, methods, and expected results have an impact on other video-mediated collaborations (i.e., attention-navigation surgical robotics) that are becoming increasingly important in areas where the face-to-face collaboration is restricted (i.e., high-risk environments, areas under travel restrictions, or rural areas).
