Hydrogenation of CO2 by mixed-metal homogeneous catalysts
Bidragets beskrivning
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and controlling climate change are two crucial challenges for humankind today. One potential solution is to use greenhouse gases as starting materials in catalytic production of value-added chemicals. This would both reduce the greenhouse gas concentration in the atmosphere and allow the industry to produce chemical commodities from non-toxic, abundant and inexpensive reagents. Typically, these transformations require catalysts which feature heavier late transition metals reflecting their amenability to bond modifying redox processes. However, the use of precious transition metals calls into question the viability of such transformations hence the development of greener catalysts is of utmost importance. This proposal seeks to open up avenues to catalytic bond modification processes of environmentally important gases based on mixed-metal catalysts featuring main group and first row transition metals.
